What a fun-named cocktail to order! The Blood & Sand cocktail gets it’s name from a 1922 film starring Rudolph Valentino as a bullfighter.

The cocktail recipe first appeared in a 1930 book titled, The Savoy Cocktail Book, by Harry Craddock.

Whether or not Craddock was the inventor of the cocktail, or just the first to write it down is unknown, but regardless the cocktail has been a classic ever since.
